EKII Support
Support for electric vehicle owners
EKII support is managed by:
The project aims to promote the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by supporting the introduction of vehicles in Latvia that use electricity stored in the vehicle as their sole source of mechanical energy and have GHG emissions of 0 g CO2/km, or use energy from electricity stored in the vehicle for mechanical propulsion while having an internal combustion engine installed, with total GHG emissions up to 50g CO2/km.
Choosing an electric car has several advantages:
- The electric motor is much more efficient than an internal combustion engine, so each kilometer driven often costs less
- Electric cars have far fewer moving parts, so maintenance and servicing costs are much lower
- Electric cars do not create noise pollution, thus improving the urban environment
- Additionally, some municipalities provide advantages such as bus lane access or free parking
