"Increasing productivity through expanding investment in R&D" of the Latvian Recovery and Resilience Facility plan', SIA "MAŠĪNBŪVES KOMPETENCES CENTRS" is implementing project No. 5.1.1.2.i.0/2/24/A/CFLA/008 "Engineering Competence Centre support for research" from 1 June 2024 to 31 December 2027.

Within the "Engineering Competence Centre support for research" project, SIA "GRANĪTS" in cooperation with SIA "OX Works" began implementation of research project No. J.1.2 "Development of a smart battery electric energy storage system for the needs of the metalworking industry" (J.1.2.) on 1 January 2025.

The goal of the research project is to develop and validate, in a real operating environment, a smart battery electric energy storage system and the software required for its operation.

The research project is planned to be completed by 30 June 2026. Total project costs are planned at EUR 812,458.00, including EUR 434,422.00 of European Union Recovery Fund financing.

During the reporting period (from 1 July 2025 to 30 September 2025), activity 3 – "Technical design of the 1000 kW / 2150 kWh battery system" and activity 6.1 – "Development of savings and profit algorithms for the mFRR balancing product" were carried out.

Both activities were carried out during the reporting period and the following results were achieved:

The interim result has been achieved in full.

Introduction of a new technological direction

Development of a digital platform for management and data analysis of a battery energy storage system (BESS) – a digital platform has been introduced that enables remote BESS monitoring, data analytics and optimisation, thereby increasing the company's digital maturity.

ALTUM-issued European Union Recovery and Resilience Facility support for promoting digital transformation in enterprises has been received for the implementation of the project.
